15 Celebrities Who Had It All Then Lost It Even More

In Hollywood, you imagine that celebrities and public figures are always doing good on a financial level as they make millions on television shows, movies, concerts, and public appearances.

While this may be partly true, they also struggle with a high amount of taxes, and have the same bills and property tax as everyone else, except their percentage is a little higher. They also can never depend on their income and sometimes, a celebrity gets into a bit of trouble and loses everything they have worked so hard for.

The following 15 celebrities, hosts and musicians had it all once and lost it, though many of them have already begun working back up to the position they once held in the limelight.

1. Ed McMahon

Ed McMahon, who lived from 1923 to 2009, was an American icon nearly from the beginning.

He spent years hosting various television shows, including Star Search, and being Johnny Carson’s sidekick on The Tonight Show from 1962 to 1992.

Ed McMahon was also the face of Publisher’s Clearing House for nearly ten years.

He also made tons of commercials, appeared in other shows and movies, and hosted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with appearing in Bewitched, Fun With Dick and Jane, Full Moon High, and The Incident.

Unfortunately, while he did make millions throughout his career, he also lost most of it. During an interview with Larry King, Ed McMahon mentioned that he went broke because he spent more than he made. In 2008, just a year before he died, Ed McMahon was sued by lenders for the remaining $644,000 that he still owed on the $4.8 million home he purchased.

The man who was made famous on television, commercials and movies, and who is known as one of the most famous sidekicks, made millions and lost it all near the end of his life. Luckily, he is not known for his debt to this day, but for his many other projects that still hold Ed McMahon in high esteem.
