Everyone appreciates being treated like a queen for a day. For many women, Mother’s Day is their only chance.

Now, Kate Middleton, who may indeed be queen someday, still relishes her role of mother on her first Mothering Sunday.

The holiday, which the royal family prefers to keep a private affair, comes at a perfect time for the couple. Prince William and Kate have chosen a new nanny for their son, who will attend to George wherever they are.

Mothering Sunday

In the United Kingdom, Mothering Sunday (also known as Mother’s Day) is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent. So this year, Mothering Sunday is March 30.

Although there has been much speculation about whether or not Prince William and the duchess might take a night out on the town, the truth is much closer to a quiet night in with the family.

Either way, the day should include a special recognition of Kate’s own mother Carole. And, perhaps William will take time to reminisce about his memories of his mother, Diana, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1997.

Spoof stories

The new, happy family prefers their privacy, as does any celebrity. But that doesn’t stop anyone from wondering how these intimate moments may turn out in real life. The online retailer Notonthehighstreet.com commissioned photographer Alison Jackson to depict the family celebrating Mothering Sunday.

Jackson hired look alikes for several royal family members, and set them up in common family gathering moments. A few favorites include William on the couch with an eye-mask, while Kate plays with George on the floor. And who could forget the Queen, gathering the whole family together for a group selfie?

Prince George

Kate’s first Mother’s Day is not the only new thing to celebrate in the royal family. They have finally found a woman to fill a permanent post as nanny to the eight-month-old Prince George.

Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo has accepted the position and all the care it requires. Borrallo is a native of Spain and studied at Norland College.

But, since she is charged with protecting one of the U.K.’s most precious babies, she added a few new skills to her repertoire.

In order to take the job, Borrallo had to be educated in Tae Kwon-Do, to protect the young prince from kidnappers. She also learned to drive like a stunt driver, to avoid paparazzi.

Future plans

The addition of Borrallo to the royal family’s staff comes at a perfect time. William and Kate are planning to take a trip in April to Australia and New Zealand. They intend to take George along, at Borrallo’s care.

Since the duke and duchess left George at home for their recent trip to the Maldives, this will be George’s first overseas holiday. Here’s hoping that it is an exciting vacation for all.
Who could be happier than a glamorous new mother of a beautiful baby?

Mothers cherish the opportunity to enjoy the royal treatment, especially on their first Mother’s Day. But, for a mother whose husband is in line for the English throne, the royal treatment is an everyday affair.
