Girls Aloud had reason to celebrate recently after Nadine Coyle revealed that she and fiancé Jason Bell have welcomed their very first child. Nadine gave birth to a bouncing baby girl on the 10th February 2014. The singer has yet to confirm the baby’s name but teased fans by releasing a statement saying “I love being a mammy & will fill you all in soon. Love Nadine Xx.”

Cheryl Cole led the congratulations by tweeting a message shortly after the birth which read “It is OFFICIAL!! There is a baby Aloud!!!!!! Congratulations @nadinecoylenow & Jason so amazing!!!” Nadine first revealed to her fans that she was expecting back in August by tweeting a sepia photograph of herself with the caption “I’m having a baby xx.” Fans are eagerly awaiting news of the baby’s name and a glimpse of the new bundle of joy.

Nadine has been in a relationship with her fiancé since January 2008. However, the couple announced that they had separated in 2011 after a year-long engagement. The tabloids went into overdrive after Nadine announced her pregnancy by speculating on whether or not Jason was the father.

The couple eventually announced that they had reconciled and were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child. Both fans and Nadine’s former bandmates expressed surprise at hearing the news of Nadine’s pregnancy. When quizzed on her reaction to the news, Sarah Harding told an interviewer “We all thought it would be Kimberley, we definitely never expected it to be Nadine.”

Nadine Coyle is originally from Derry, Northern Ireland and got her first taste of fame by appearing on Irish talent show Pop Stars.

Nadine made it through to the final rounds and was selected as a member of a girl group named Six.

However, once the show’s producers learned that Nadine was actually only 17-years-old at the time, she was disqualified and sent home to Derry.

The disappointment turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Nadine entered Pop Stars: The Rivals in 2002. Along with the other members of Girls Aloud, she went on to win the contest and enjoyed a sparkling musical career as a member of one of the most popular girl bands in the UK.

Girls Aloud are known as one of the most successful reality show bands of all time. They achieved the impressive feat of amassing 20 consecutive number one singles in the UK billboard charts. The group have sold over 4.3 million singles and amassed a fortune of around £30 million.

After four successful albums, the singers announced in 2009 that they would be taking a year-long hiatus in order to explore other projects. The break lasted for over three years until the girls returned to release their final greatest hits album and perform what would turn out to be their last tour. In 2013, the band confirmed rumours that they had decided to part ways.

Although the girls have enjoyed a huge amount of success and critical acclaim during their time in Girls Aloud, they have also had to deal with the dark side of fame. Cheryl Cole went through a bitter and very public separation from footballer Ashley Cole after stories emerged of his infidelity. Sarah Harding had to check herself into rehab to deal with a sleeping pill and alcohol addiction after splitting from her long-term fiancé Tom Crane.

Despite the drama, all of the girls are now doing well and pursuing their own solo careers. Nadine even announced that she planned to release a follow-up album to her first solo attempt entitled Insatiable that failed to impress fans and critics. However, her surprise pregnancy derailed those plans, so fans will have to wait a little bit longer for new material from the Irish songstress.
