This One Can’t Run Away! Mo Farah Inducted Into Madame Tussauds

April 20, 2014

Madame Tussauds is the place to be to see the cultural icons of the past as they appeared in their present. Mo Farah, the 31 year old Olympic gold medalist, was the most recent person unveiled at the famous wax museum, and he appeared in double. Tussauds chose to portray Mo Farah twice, with two very different looks.

The wax figures

The first wax statue to be unveiled showed Farah as he appeared before the London Marathon. Wearing a blue tracksuit and a white jacket with his arms raised, the Olympic model looks exactly like his real life counterpart.

This statue showcases Farah during the Marathon in which he placed eighth, finishing a whole four minutes behind the winner, Wilson Kipsang. The second figure to be unveiled showed Mo in a bright blue tracksuit with “GREAT BRITAIN” written across his jersey.

Mo Farah was proud of his country

While he did not place highly in the London Marathon, Farah made a promise to come back better than ever. Farah said that he will “be back 100 percent” and that he was not going to “finish on a down”.He went on to state that he wouldn’t want to do any other marathon than the one placed in London because it’s “his city.”

What comes next for Farah?

While Farah has had massive success in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races during the Olympics, it appears that the Somali born athlete has his eyes focused on the next marathon that he will compete in.

For making his marathon debut in London, Farah performed capably despite falling back in the competition. Farah placed eighth with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 21 seconds. This is the new English record for a marathon running time.
